Massachusetts lieutenant governor Kim Driscoll was awarded the prestigious Recycling Impact Award by the Recycled Materials Association in collaboration with the National Lieutenant Governors Association. The award is annually reserved for a lieutenant governor or for a representative who is second in command in state government. The key factors this award considers for its participants are their commitment to sustainability, reuse of materials, safeguarding natural resources and recycling.

When asked about the recycling industry and the importance of using recycled materials in manufacturing processes in the US Robin Wiener, President of the Recycled Materials Association elaborated“ The recycled materials industry is a cornerstone of the American economy, transforming obsolete, surplus, or incidentally produced materials into fundamental components of our daily lives – from the roads we travel on and the cars we drive, to the buildings we occupy and the packaging that brings consumer goods and food into our households. The industry plays a pivotal role in helping the nation source more materials locally and sustainably, making our supply chain more resilient, our economy stronger, and our planet more sustainable” he went ahead to say “ Lt. Governor Driscoll’s understanding of the importance of recycled materials and her unwavering support for recycling, sustainability, and innovative solutions make her a deserving recipient of the Recycling Impact Award. We are grateful for her support.”

Massachusetts has always been on the radar for taking green initiatives to help combat the negative effects of increasing volumes of waste. We have even seen a growing influence of local, minority-owned recycling businesses in the area, like Recycle Technologies. Almost all of such businesses offer e-waste, battery, and lamp recycling facility services across the USA. Much of these efforts can be attributed to Lt. Governor Kim Driscoll’s unwavering advocacy for sustainability.

Commenting on the green initiatives she has taken overtime for Massachesetts the governor said “In Massachusetts, we know that sustainability is key to protecting the environment, and our administration is proud of the efforts we’ve made to invest in and improve our green initiatives,” she further added “ I’m honored by this recognition from the NLGA and ReMA, and look forward to continuing my efforts to make Massachusetts a national leader in recycling and sustainability.”

As a longtime proponent of sustainability initiatives Governor Driscoll has multiple sustainability initiatives under her hat. She has implemented programs that led to improved recycling rates in the city and has also joined forums that aim to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

With efforts like these at the state level and commitment from the community to support such movements it is not long before Massachusetts can emerge as the torch bearer of sustainability initiatives. Recycle Technologies too is an avid advocate of sustainability and believes in developing and implementing methods that provide the masses with easy and accessible solutions for e-waste. We hold free recycling events bi-annualy across major states in the US and incentivize businesses with budget-friendly bulk recycling options to promote sustainable e-waste recycling.
