Battery Recycling Matter

The landscape of the battery recycling industry is evolving at a rapid pace. With the inclusion of EV batteries, companies are looking for ways to identify long-term sustainable solutions. A robust recycling policy can be a game changer when it comes to recycling conventional and EV batteries. It ensures that every car battery that is no longer in use will be recycled. This will help boost our circular economic endeavors overall.

New Batteries

By recycling spent batteries we can create newer batteries. Our reliance on mining virgin resources will cease, and we will make headways when it comes to sustainable solutions. At this current juncture this is all conjecture. We lack a comprehensive battery recycling program. The EU can help us as they are already in the process of creating a comprehensive recycling program.

Recycle Technologies is one of the kind companies that can recycle lithium batteries. It is our pledge that no battery whatever the chemistry enters a landfill. Electronic waste is the most hazardous waste streams. Not properly recycling them can lead to fires and damage to the environment.

 Electric Cars and Battery Recycling

As America heads towards the electric cars market. Car manufacturers are in short supply of lithium as it tends to be a vital component. Lithium can only be found in African region and in hard form. And mining is the only other way to extract this rich resource. But there is a simpler way of utilizing lithium. By recycling spent lithium batteries. We can create our own resources.

Circular economy is a fantastic way to reuse materials and create newer products. This is a closed loop system which is also self-sustaining. Meaning the more spent batteries you will put in the process, that higher number of materials will be captured. You may wonder if this is that good, why aren't we doing it? Well as mentioned before, we need a national recycling program that will make sure this becomes a closed loop system.

Challenges For Lithium Battery Recycling

Currently, it is an open loop system and the place that most lithium batteries land is landfills. Lithium is highly hazardous when it comes to water. So, it would be wise to wrap the terminal with non-conductive materials for spent batteries.

Can Machine Learning Help in Our Battery Recycling Process?

With Artificial Intelligence making head ways in the American industry. Machine learning systems can get battery recyclers to efficiently sort spent batteries. Recycling requires proper planning and care. Disposing of these components in landfills is the most dangerous thing. And companies that do them are creating an environmental catastrophe waiting to happen.

These batteries contain chemical components that become more hazard once their usefulness ends. Machine learning can help recycling companies sort spent batteries with remarkable accuracy. The system will remove manual sorting which means that automatic sorting will be able to source many batteries. Also, the chance of human life hazard will cease to exist as the machine is doing all the challenging work.

Battery Recycling

Issues

This, still in its infant stage, can help recyclers make the recycling process much better. Many will object that by adding machine learning we are taking away food from the table of workers. But look at the major downturn these batteries pose for us if we do not properly dispose of them. Everyone owns a cell phone.

Each cell phone has a lithium battery in it. So, when people start switching to new phones, they throw the older ones in the recycler. Now you will have millions of lithium batteries going to the recycler to be disposed of. A machine learning system can sort these out in days instead of manual sorting that may take weeks.

The future for Battery Recycling

As we move towards cleaner energy and EV cars, the creation of Lithium batteries is becoming an all-time high. The average lifespan of lithium batteries is from 5 to 8 years. Older lithium batteries would have expired when up against batteries that have only 3 years of coverage left. The challenge for the ages remains what we will do with the high amount of depleted lithium batteries. Lithium and cobalt are two key components for EV battery manufacturing. We have a short supply of these resources.

Car batteries might be making a downturn as compared to EV batteries. But we need to talk about the disposal of car batteries. A strong recycling plan can help us properly dispose of lead acid batteries. Recyclers such as Recycle Technologies are the only ones in the Midwest that have a strong policy regarding disposing of electronic waste. We recycle batteries, lamps, and electronics in high quantities.

Our Mail recycling kit is one of the best on the market. If coming to the recycling facility may seem a challenge for you, then invest in our mail back recycling kits. They already come with the prepaid shipping tags and once you have done filling them with waste. Just drop them at the nearest FedEx. The fee when you pay for recycling the kit also includes your recycling certificate and mail-back fees. This way you do not have to pay extra as many other recyclers charge you with.
